About Manavendra

Manavendra is a financial services professional turned public policy advisor. He is grappling with his mid-career crisis. He is a flaneur of sorts. He is passionate about history, politics, and culture. It is his dream to be able to make a significant impact on society especially in Bihar, his home state. He has been published numerous times in leading newspapers and magazines and very recently his debut book, a collection of short stories has been released. Manavendra attended Ramjas College, University of Delhi for B.A. (Honours) in Economics and NMIMS, Mumbai for his post-graduate degree in business management. He lives in Gurgaon.

Manavendra has spent considerable time working his way up the corporate ladder in the financial services industry. He started his career with a mutual fund company and later worked in the wealth management space and in retail banking in large Indian Banks. His abiding interest in financial services continues. He is passionate about financial education and financial inclusion. He has written about it in leading newspapers. He has advocated with the government for financial education as an efficient way of enhancing financial inclusion.

Manavendra has a keen interest in history, culture, and politics. He believes in soft power as an important tool to raise India’s global standing and win influence especially in areas that can be considered the Indo sphere. He loves reading about history; William Dalrymple’s writings are amongst the favourite. He closely tracks and follows various narratives in the world of politics.

Anything to do with Bihar is close to Manavendra’s heart. From fending off Laloo jokes in the early years of his career to the people, the cuisine, the fruits, and of course history Manavendra loves anything Bihari.

He has worked in the space of skill development and employability and it is his dream to be able to make a significant impact on the youth especially in Bihar, his home state.
